OUR PROGRAMS
Ages 3 months through five, grouped into small, developmentally focused classrooms. Every room meets DC OSSE adult-to-child ratios and group-size limits, and every room runs on our 80/20 Spanish immersion model — 80% Spanish, 20% English, supported by daily routines, songs, and stories in both languages.
CLASSROOM STRUCTURE

First steps, first words, and first stretches of independence. Spanish songs and picture-card vocabulary anchor the day.
Pretend play, parallel-into-cooperative interaction, and the first true bilingual conversations.
A bridge into Pre-K with structured small-group activities, early literacy in both languages, and expanded outdoor and enrichment time.
Kindergarten-readiness year with bilingual writing portfolios, Teaching Strategies GOLD assessments, and a written kindergarten transition plan. Opening in a future phase.
A DAY AT NIDO
A sample day — predictable rhythm, plenty of outdoor time, and language blocks built around when young children are most ready to learn.
CURRICULUM FRAMEWORK
All instruction is embedded within meaningful, child-directed play. Teachers act as facilitators, scaffolding learning through intentional questioning, environmental design, and responsive interaction.
About 80% of daily instruction, conversation, songs, stories, and classroom labels are in Spanish. The remaining 20% is delivered in English, primarily during designated afternoon blocks and specific literacy activities.
Explicit SEL instruction is integrated throughout the day — morning meetings, conflict resolution, feelings check-ins, and cooperative learning. Teachers use the Pyramid Model for promoting social-emotional competence.
Curriculum planning incorporates family input through home language surveys, cultural heritage sharing, family literacy nights, and collaborative goal-setting during parent-teacher conferences.
COME VISIT
Open houses are monthly and intentionally small — six families at a time. Bring your child, tour our classrooms, meet Gabriela and Veronica, and stay for a snack.
